As an imminent construction project looms over their beloved small-town baseball field, a pair of New England rec-league teams face off for the last time in a makeup game with seemingly no competitive stakes. But the unofficial captain of the Riverdogs, third baseman Graham Morris, works for the development company responsible for the demolition, causing tensions to flare up both within his own team and amongst the rival squad, Adler's Paint. Meanwhile, the solitary townie-cum-scorekeeper, Franny, contemplates his own place on the outskirt of an escapist ritual that's now fading into an uncertain future.
