April 27, 2017 WENDY WHITELEY TO ATTEND WHITELEY SPECIAL SCREENINGS

Ahead of the cinema release of upcoming Australian feature film documentary WHITELEY, Transmissions Films is delighted to announce Wendy Whiteley will be appearing at special event preview screenings.

Wendy Whiteley, Brett’s muse and wife, will be appearing at special event screenings in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra ahead of the national release of WHITELEY on 11th May.

In Sydney on Monday 1st May Wendy will introduce a preview screening at Palace Norton St (Leichhardt), before participating in a special event Q&A at Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace (Cremorne) on Tuesday 2nd May, following a preview of the film. Wendy will then appear at screenings in Melbourne on Thursday 4th May and Canberra on Friday 5th May. Tickets are now on sale.

WHITELEY is a visual journey into the life and legacy of one of Australia’s most celebrated artists. The story, told in Brett’s own voice, opens a rare window into an artist’s mind.

While his brief, dazzling life was erratic, combustible and tragic, Whiteley also created a highly productive and brilliant artistic vortex around which much of our 70s and 80s sense of self-worth as an aggressively creative nation emerged. Many of his most successful paintings were odes to Wendy and were in no small part successful due to her uninhibited expressiveness before Brett’s devouring gaze.

“WHITELEY is a striking and insightful documentary about one of the most influential artists to ever come out of Australia. The opportunity to host Wendy and have her speak first-hand about her life with Brett is a rare opportunity for art and film lovers,” said Transmission Films Joint Managing Directors Andrew Mackie and Richard Payten.

WHITELEY will open in cinemas nationally on 11th May. Head HERE for special Q&A screening info.
