December 05, 2016 AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF BRETT WHITELEY

Transmission Films is delighted to unveil the trailer and key art for upcoming film WHITELEY, a documentary about Australian cultural icon Brett Whiteley.
WHITELEY is a visual journey into the life and legacy of one of Australia’s most celebrated artists. The story, told in Brett’s own voice, opens a rare window into an artist’s mind.
While his brief, dazzling life was erratic, combustible and tragic, Whiteley also created a highly productive and brilliant artistic vortex around which much of our 70s and 80s sense of self-worth as an aggressively creative nation emerged. The documentary features over four decades of archival footage and includes never before seen interviews and notebooks.
The trailer is now available to view online here: https://youtu.be/_OcnHXuHfGk. Key art is available for download from the Transmission Films website.
“The chance to release this insightful and striking documentary is an honour for Transmission Films. WHITELEY not only tells the story of one of the most influential Australian artists but also examines an exciting time in our cultural and artistic history,” said Transmission Films Joint Managing Director Richard Payten.

WHITELEY will enjoy its World Premiere at St George OpenAir Cinema in Sydney on Thursday 9th February 2017 before releasing in cinemas nationally on May 11th.

Tickets go on sale for St George OpenAir Cinemas World Premiere screening at 9am on Monday 12th December, 2016. More information here: http://www.stgeorgeopenair.com.au/program/whiteley/
