Tuesday 1st May 2012

1 May, 2012

Seven more films have been added to this year’s lineup at the Cannes Film Festival, including our very own Renoir which examines the later years of Pierre-August Renoir as he battles arthritic old age and the mysterious young model who reinvigorates his art and life. Gilles Bourdos’ Renoir will be the closing film for the Un Certain Regard program.

We’re also excited to have two other films in Cannes this year. Woody Allen: A Documentary, an in-depth look at the prolific director’s career from the morning of his birth to the recent Midnight in Paris, has been officially selected for the Cannes Classics program while Michael Haneke’s Amour (Love) will be In Competition.Amour follows Georges and Anne, both in their eighties, as the love that has united the couple for so long is severely tested when Ann suffers a mild stroke.

We’re looking forward to bringing these films to you in the coming months!

See-Saw on the top of the world with Top of the Lake

Thursday 5th April 2012

April 5, 2012

Iain Canning and Emile Sherman’s See-Saw Films has recently announced the move towards the small-screen. Speaking at MIPTV, Canning announced See-Saw will be teaming with Jane Campion to produce a six-part TV crime-drama now shooting in New Zealand.

This marks the beginning of See-Saw’s move to television, and we can’t wait to see the kinds of projects they pick up. Canning spoke about their upcoming TV slate and said: “We will be selective about what we do. We want to pick unique projects like Top of the Lake. We are still developing the See-Saw brand as one which works with quality writers and directors so we will be building up our TV slate but with the right project.”

But this doesn’t mean See-Saw will stop making films, they’re currently working on producing John Curran’s Tracks, and are in post-production for Tony Krawitz’s Dead Europe, both of which we’re excited to be releasing in Australia and New Zealand!
